2012 Olympics
We are all very excited about the Olympic Games coming to London in 2012, but what does this mean to the people of Lancashire?
Lancashire Sport Partnership is working to make sure that Lancashire gets involved with the Games and that they leave a lasting impression on our County, it's people and our facilities. We call this the 'legacy' of the 2012 Games.
Working together with our partners, Sport England and the North West Development Agency we aim to make sure that Lancashire gets the most out of the largest sporting event in the world.
Making sure Lancashire gets geared up for the Games
We aim to work with local and regional partners to make sure that our County gets the most out of the Games. We want to make sure that the people of Lancashire are inspired by London 2012, and we seek investment, inspiration and resources to make sure that our County is left with a full and lasting legacy.
We currently have a number of working groups in Lancashire working towards making this vision happen. These groups are looking at how 2012 will affect our four key work areas: Sporting Infrastructure, Workforce Development, Business Development and Communications & Marketing.
2012 Training Camps
Most participating nations in the 2012 Olympic Games will need local UK-based training camps to prepare their teams for the high standard of competition. Working with our partners we are working to hard to make sure that Lancashire is an attractive option when seeking such a training camp.
Much of our preparation for the 2012 Olympic Games is currently under way, and this page will be updated when new information becomes available.
