Halton Borough Council are seeking a Disability Sport Officer to ensure the delivery of high quality physical education & sport to pupils of Chestnut Lodge School, both in and out of school hours.
This post will involve:
- the delivery of curriculum PE/Sport entitlement to pupils at Chesnut Lodge School (equivalent to 2 days)
- responsibility for the co-ordination and development of disability sport across Halton and to increase participation of pupils with disabilities in sport (equivalent to 3 days)
You will need to have a recognised coaching qualification, knowledge of the principles of best practice regarding coaching and secure knowledge of safe practice and child protection issues. Knowledge of educational principles and experience of working in a school environment will be valuable. Good ICT skills and the ability to take initiative and plan and evaluate one’s own work against the highest standards are essential.
Duties include:
- To ensure the delivery of high quality physical education and sport to pupils of Chesnut Lodge school both in and out of school hours
- To deliver appropriate support and training to teachers where required
- To work closely alongside the Partnership Development Manager to support the work of the School Sport Partnership
- To support the development of high quality School Sport for children with disabilities across the borough by working with targeted groups to ensure opportunities for participation in a diverse range of activities
- To undertake administration tasks to support the programme as required
- To contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of work undertaken to demonstrate impact on whole school improvement and contribution to related outcomes of related development plans
- To support the delivery of training to Adults other than Teachers working and supporting children with disabilities in and out of school settings
- To liaise with the relevant external agencies regarding provision of sport for children with SEN
