European Championship athlete hosts SPAR Lancashire Disability Youth Games

Lisa Daley was guest of honour at the recent SPAR Lancashire Disability Youth Games event, held at Stanley Park, Blackpool. The event saw 56 teams, representing 20 specialist schools in the county compete in boccia, football, athletics, new age curling and sensory orienteering events.

Lisa, a visually impaired athlete, has gained silver medal success in the European Championships and has represented Great Britain on a number of occasions. She was on site all day, officially opening the Games as well as cheering on children taking part in the athletics event. Also cheering on the competitors were mayors and mayoresses from across the county and representatives from James Hall & Company Ltd, SPAR distributor for the north of England and sponsors of the Youth Games event programme.

The sensory orienteering event involved children completing different activities and tasks at a number of stations across the park, braving the elements on the day! The other events taking place saw a very high standard of play by all ages and abilities taking part, with an ethos on participation in sporting activities paramount.
