What is the Step into Sport Conference?
Lancashire's Step into Sport conference is an event organised by Lancashire Sport alongside the School Sports Partnerships from across the county and is supported by local Sports Development Teams.
The event is held for selected young people with an interest in sports leadership and who have already shown their potential to go onto be the next generation of coaches, referees, officials etc. This conference helps to prepare young people to gain the experience, skills and qualifications needed to achieve their goals through community volunteering.
The day will hopefully be the first step for most attending to go onto take part in volunteering within their local sports clubs, after school clubs, sports development and many more in a variety of roles. The day will offer young people the chance to:
- Develop Skills
- Access accredited Sports Coach UK training
- Personal & Professional Development
- Improve confidence and leadership skills
- Develop CV
- Meet professionals from the sports industry
- Try something different through leading elements of outdoor challenges
What happens after the conference?
The conference will arm all those who have attended with the knowledge and a flavour of the skills needed get further involved in the industry as a sports leader. There will also be the opportunity to sign onto Lancashire's Young Volunteer Programme designed to support young volunteers aged 16-24 through to 200 hours volunteering via mentors, training, scholarships and incentives such as travel expenses, certificates and kit!
If you are aged 16-19 years and in full time education, and would like to get involved with the Step into Sport programme, please contact your local Partnership Development Manager.
