Fourteen swimming pools across Lancashire are challenging local users to come along and swim between 1 and 12 lengths of the pools between 1-4pm on Saturday 8th October.
The Lancashire BIG swim challenges local people to contribute to their local total of 2,012 lengths and aims to use this as an innovative way of encouraging more people to swim more often.
Each Local Area will be vying for the honour of being the first in Lancashire to achieve 2,012 lengths by the 4pm deadline.
This mass participation event is part of Lancashire's build up to celebrate the hosting of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Jo Moss, Lancashire 2012 Sport Network's chairman said: "We hope that this swimming challenge will become a lasting legacy of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and will be held annually, at the same time of the year, making it a key feature of the swimming calendar."
