FA Charter Standard

A club from Skelmersdale, West Lancashire have been celebrating after they were officially recognised by the FA by being awarded Charter Standard just a year after the club was formed.

The Skem MenAces is a football club for adults with learning disabilities and was set up in response to the lack of sports clubs specifically meeting needs of adults with learning difficulties. After several meetings identifying volunteer coaches, the club staged it's opening session where 20 adults turned up and the club hasn't looked back. The club's membership continues to grow and as well as developing the players the club actively develops young volunteers.

The club prides itself on offering something for all abilities and making sure everyone within the club has the opportunity to take part in whatever is being arranged - the players also having their own committee.

After only twelve months, the club is now looking to enter into the NW Disability football league for those players wishing to progress to more competitive football.
