Team GB Rider Emma Hindle from Preston, has made it through to the last 15 in the dressage competition with her horse Lancet and will ride in the second and final part of the competition on Tuesday.
Emma finished fourth overall in the team competition to qualify for the Grand Prix Special. She put in a strong performance on Lancet to score 70.44% rewarding her with 9th place and with only the top 15 qualifying to ride on.
“I’m really really happy with him, all week I had been focusing on my Grand Prix preparation for the team,” said Hindle.
“I had a really positive feeling throughout the test and he just got better and better. My result is more than I ever dreamed of as we had our ups and downs this season.
“I’m really proud of the way he coped with the atmosphere and conditions and I have proved to myself I can do it when it really matters.”
The second Team GB rider Laura Bechtolsheimer also had a good ride scoring 67.16% on Mistral Hojris. She finished in 18th place - just outside the cut for Tuesday’s freestyle final. The 23 year old on her Olympic debut was satisfied with the performance and glad to put the disappointment of the team competition behind her:
"I'm very pleased with our performance but disappointed by the score,” she said.
“At other competitions he has put in a similar test and scored well into the 70's but this is the Olympics.
“However, I am thrilled I managed to come back into the ring and pull off a solid performance and I'm very proud of my horse. I'm certainly much happier now!"
