Lancashire Sport Partnership and the Lancashire Safeguarding Children in Sport Group are excited and proud to launch the new Lancashire Safeguarding Children in Sport Policy which has been developed to help support our partners, and particularly those partners engaged in projects such as Sport Unlimited, Positive Futures, Step into Sport and Playground to Podium which have engaged well over 40,000 children and young people over the last three years.
The Lancashire Safeguarding Children in Sport Group have developed the Policy to make it much more attractive and readable for everyone within Lancashire. After researching a number of policies from other sports organisations the group decided that the policy needed to be written in a very easy format to give people simple but important guidance.
The group also looked at different ways of presenting the policy to the partnership and after the success of the Lancashire Sport Strategy document decided to follow a similar format. Therefore the Policy has been designed as an A2 fold out leaflet with the Safeguarding Policy on one side and a user friendly poster on the back indicating what people need to do if they require help with a safeguarding issue.
It is hoped that clubs and organizations will find this very useful and put up on club bulletin boards, the office wall etc, then it can be used to ensure that the importance of Safeguarding and Protecting Children is always visible to staff, coaches, volunteers, parents and participants.
The Policy has been endorsed by the Lancashire Sport Partnership Board and is backed up by the Lancashire Safeguarding Children in Sport E-Toolkit and the Sport Unlimited Safeguarding Toolkit which are available from our website and gives the user templates and best practice examples to ensure that their club/organisation has the safest possible environment for young people.
