Pupils from across Lancashire will compete at the 10th annual SPAR Lancashire Youth Games tag rugby county finals on Wednesday, March 9 2011.
Teams representing 16 schools from will take part in the finals at Preston Grasshoppers. Teams that are taking part include:
- Blackpool - Stanley Primary School
- Blackburn - Blackburn The Redeemer CE Primary
- Burnley - St John the Baptist RC Primary School
- Chorley - Bretherton Endowed C of E Primary School
- Fylde - Ansdell Primary School
- Heysham - Bolton-le-Sands Church of England Primary School
- Hyndburn - Belthorn Primary School
- Lancaster - Ryelands Primary School
- Pendle - Blacko Primary School
- Preston - St Mary and St Andrew's Catholic Primary School
- Ribble Valley - Waddington & West Bradford Primary School
- Rossendale - Helmshore Primary School
- South Ribble - (Brownedge) Our Lady And St Gerard's Roman Catholic Primary School
- South Ribble - (Worden) Tarleton Holy Trinity
- West Lancs - TBC (District final to be played on March 5)
- Wyre - Garstang St Thomas' CE Primary School
VIPs from across the county will attend to cheer on their local teams including representatives from Lancashire Sport Partnership and the event sponsors, James Hall & Company Ltd, SPAR distributor for the North of England.
In addition, the first ever the SPAR Lancashire Youth Games mascot, the Leaping Lancashire Lion, will be at the tag rugby county final.
The tag rugby county finals will run from 10am until 3pm, with presentations taking place at 2.30pm.
The county finals represent the pinnacle of school sport in the county, with talented young competitors having fought off strong competition to represent their district at county level.
The events are organised by Lancashire School Sport Partnerships competition managers and Lancashire Sport Partnership, the strategic County Sports Partnership for Lancashire. The events are sponsored by SPAR distributor for the North of England, James Hall & Co.

The Youth Games programme has been expanded again this year to include 112 district finals and nine county finals, including a special schools' swimming gala and the SPAR Lancashire Disability Youth Games.
The events will bring together more than 10,000 pupils from hundreds of primary schools across 14 local authority districts.
Adrian Leather, chief executive of Lancashire Sport Partnership, added: "The county finals are a great opportunity for us to showcase some of the fantastic talent we have in our local schools and with the 2012 Olympics on the horizon supporting grassroots talent should be a priority across the county."
The 2011 programme will conclude with the SPAR Lancashire Disability Youth Games at Blackpool Sports Centre on Friday, July 8.
