The national 11-a-side football trialsare for football players with a learning disability. It is a chance for you to show if you are good enough to play for the Mencap team.

At the national 11-a-side football trials 15 people will be picked to play football for Mencap in a football competition in Switzerland in 2011.
The Mencap team will train together before the football competition in Switzerland. They will practise playing football together and will spend time away from home.
If you come to the national 11-a-side football trials you might be picked for the team. If you are picked you have 7 days to tell us if you are going to play in the team.
You will take part in a training weekend with the team to get ready for the competition in Switzerland. The training weekend is in Wales.
You will have to pay about £250 for the training weekend and to go to Switzerland.
You will have to pay £70 straightaway to show us that you want to take part. You then pay the rest of the money later on.
If there is some reason you cannot play in the team you will not get the £70 back. The team will play in the football competition in Switzerland in June 2011.
Your manager will decide if you can take part in the trials. If you can take part, they will fill in the form and send it back to us.
Each club can nominate up to five players to participate in the trials.
Players you nominate must:
- be a member of Mencap or a Mencap affiliated group
- have a learning disability
- be male and over 16 years old.
The team selected for the tournament in Geneva will be largely made up of intermediate level players. Please bear this in mind when nominating your footballers.

There will be a charge of £5 per personto help cover the cost of holding the trials. Please make your cheque. payable to Mencap Sport.
The closing date for nominations is 28 January 2011.
After this date, any spare places will be offered to teams that have already nominated.
If any of your players are picked they must be able to attend the training in Wales from 29 April to 1 May 2011 and the tournament in Switzerland from 9-13 June 2011.
They must also be prepared to pay the non-refundable deposit and other costs.
