Following the Government announcement of £190 million to invest in world-class youth facilities. The Department for Children, Schools and Families has asked BIG Lottery Fund to deliver the myplacecapital programme over the next three years through grants of between £1 million and £5 million. This is a key delivery element of the Children’s Plan.
The aim of myplace is to provide world-class youth facilities driven by the active participation of young people and their views and needs. The first round of funding will open on 6th May and will commit up to ?160 million.
All applications will need to demonstrate partnership between public and third and/or private sector organisations (any can lead the bid for funding). Projects must demonstrate the real participation of young people, particularly disadvantaged young people, in the development and design and future running of the project.
Julie Gough on behalf of the Lancashire Sport Partnership will be attending the North West launch event to learn more about the national context, funding criteria, application process and the role of young people in developing applications. There will also be the opportunity to undertake 1-1 discussions with BIG staff on specific projects.
If any partners have a specific facilities project in the pipeline (the progress of the project is not important as those that are already very well developed with business and capital plans in place can be processed through a fast track application which will release funding earlier)then get in touch with Julie Gough and she will discuss the support available to link your project into this funding stream.
