Lancashire Sport Partnership is pleased to announce that we have secured around £55K, over the next two years, to subsidise the cost of Minimum Operating Standard courses. We are working on this project with 9 FE Colleges in Lancashire:
- Accrington and Rossendale
- Blackpool
- Blackburn
- Burnley
- Lancaster and Morecambe
- Myerscough
- Nelson and Colne
- Preston
- Runshaw
They have offered their facilities free and are sending a small selected group of students on some of the courses, whilst other workshops are for clubs only. We hope that this will develop good relationships between Colleges and local clubs and that clubs may be able to offer students who do no currently volunteer, a suitable opportunity.
As part of the agreement with Sport England, these courses can only be accessed by people based in Lancashire and are not available outside the Lancashire boundaries.
Lancashire Sport Partnership know that these courses are in high demand from clubs working towards/maintaining the Clubmark standard or equivalent. But we are equally aware that most people in sport need to cover all these topics and that they are “basic skills” for professional sports people. Feedback from clubs who attended some of these courses earlier this year included, “we just didn't realise how important it is to keep up to date with things” and “for clubs to make the most of links with schools these courses are vital”.
We would therefore ask you to encourage as many volunteers/coaches in your clubs as possible to attend.

We are also hoping to confirm some funding which will allow us to offer Long Term Athletic Development (LTAD) courses and some other courses for which there has been demand from clubs through our web-site. Please keep checking the website for further information on additional courses.
