Healthy Streets is a project developed by Lancashire County Council to develop 20mph speed limits on some areas of our county's roads.

The project is designed to create environments in which people of all ages feel safe and inspired to walk, play, cycle and socialise with neighbours. There will be three areas in Lancashire where the 20mph speed limits will be introduced. These areas are Larches in Preston, South West Burnley and West End of Morecambe.

Research evidence shows that engaging in active transport such as walking, cycling and running is the best way to sustain physical activity in the long term so Lancashire Sport Partnership will be working with the Healthy Streets project team to develop and advise on these opportunities within the designated areas. Working within a team involving Lancashire County Council's environment team, local district authorities, Sport and Physical Activity Alliances (SPAAs) and Governing Bodies of Sport,we will be lloking to create a range of activities that will focus on interventions such as Walking4Health programmes, establishing running networks and introducing led cycling rides.
