Sport Unlimited is an innovative youth sports programme which cascades funding to local communities via the county sports partnerships network.

It's targeted at youngsters who may have some interest in sport, but aren't particularly engaged with community or club sport.

Popular alternative sports include trampolining, climbing, free running, BMX, street dance and skiing. These sit alongside more traditional sports such as football, badminton and tennis, often repackaged or adapted to be more relevant to a younger audience.

Local providers organise 10-week, high-quality Sport Unlimited taster sessions designed to inspire youngsters to sign up for longer-term participation in local clubs and in the community. The aim in Lancashire is to get over 37,000 young people to these taster sessions, and want at least 27,000 to attend more than 6 out of the 10 sessions. We also hope that at least 10,000 of these young people will then commit to their chosen sport once the 10 weeks are up.

The Sport Unlimited programme now in its third year is working with over 120 different organisations to offer over 450 activities to young people. The programme is particularly targeting young people from 14-19 years of age to try and help prevent drop off in sports engagement at late secondary and college age groups.
