Sportivate is a new nationwide campaign that forms part of the 'Places, People, Play' Olympic legacy programme developed by the Government and Sport England. Sportivate will provide teenagers and young adults 14-25 opportunities to participate in regular sporting activity.
Sportivate supports the Play strand of Places People Play and will directly contribute to the mass participation legacy of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Sport England will invest £32 million of National Lottery funding into the programme.
Who is Sportivate for?
Sportivate is a programme aimed at 14 to 25-year-olds (the key period during which people drop out of sport), which seeks to engage them in regular sports participation. With a particular focus on those who are not regularly participating in sport, the programme will offer 6-8 week courses of high-quality coaching sessions.
At the end of the coaching, they will be supported into a local club or alternative community provider to continue their participation.
