Golf
Golf is an outdoor game in which players use specially designed clubs to hit a small, hard ball into holes or cups throughout a nine- or 18-hole course. While golf has been around for centuries and has become more sophisticated and embraced adaptations to harness interest in the sport throughout the years, the object has remained the same: to advance the ball into a small hole placed in the ground, using as few strokes as possible.
Gone are the days of male only, elitist golf clubs. The English Golf Union promotes the sport at all levels including the 'Try Golf' scheme which utilises open spaces in a beginner friendly environment. In addition many clubs now offer discounted 'pay as you play' schemes instead of expensive membership packages. If you want to get into the swing of things and explore opportunities for golf, be it for fun, socially or competition then you will be sure to find an opportunity local to you.
