Outdoor Pursuits
'Outdoor Pursuits' are generally non-mechanized, outdoor recreation activities done in areas remote from the amenities of telephone, emergency help, and urban comforts. Climbing, hill walking, orienteering and mountaineering are popular outdoor pursuits where the aim is to get fit and to test yourself against the natural environments. Mountaineering consists of three aspects: rock-craft, snow-craft and skiing, depending on whether the route chosen is over rock, snow or ice. All require great athletic and technical ability.
Orienteering is a sport where competitors navigate their way between control points marked on a specially drawn map. It doesn't matter how young or old or fit you are. You can run, jog or walk, you decide your own pace.
If you want to try any of these outdoor pursuits in Lancashire, be it for fun, socially or competition then you will be sure to find an opportunity local to you.
