Becoming a Buddy Mentor
Nacro have recieved funding from Sport England and the Department of Health to deliver a Social Inclusion Project which hopes to refer young people aged 13-18yrs into the below clubs to ultimately become members and take part in the club's sport and activities programme:
- Larches + Savick Amateur Boxing Club in Preston
- Roche Amateur Boxing Club in Burnley
- Lancaster Boys Football Club
- Try Sport in Wyre
- Blackburn Junior Hawks
The project will pair each young referral up with a volunteer Buddy Mentor, who will help them set some goals, make them feel comfortable on their first visit to the club and can hopefully be at the end of the phone to the young person if they need it.
There is mentor training available to anyone who is interested in becoming a Buddy Mentor and it would be a fantastic opportunity for anyone to experience, especially if they are looking for a new challenge in their volunteering.
