Mentoring is a highly effective way for young volunteers to learn the 'art' of their role, and apply theory that they may have learnt in a classroom or through independent study.

Mentors can bring life to a theoretical concept, demonstrate practical coaching, officiating or administration skills. They can also be a sounding board for problems, help to identify some weaknesses or just be a source of motivation and a reminder that volunteers  are doing a great job.

To be a Mentor on the Lancashire Young Volunteer programme we ask that you support  young people in your area. This could involve both 1 to 1 support and a small amount of administration and monitoring of volunteering hours. This support is essential in allowing us to reward each volunteer for the valuable work they have carried out.

Our primary goal of the programme is that both the Volunteer and Mentor see value in the relationship and it helps them to develop and become better at their job.
